As you are aware, the end of the first marking period of the 2014-2015 is almost here! If you are concerned after receiving your child's report card, we have a few tips!
1. Contact your child's teacher! Reach out to your child's teacher, if you haven't already, to find out what your child should work for the next marking period. Whether it's turning in homework, or getting organized, find out what could help and focus on that for the next 9 weeks. 2. Check ParentPortal! If you don't already, monitor your child's progress on ParentPortal. Your child actually has access to this too, and it is a great tool for them to use to keep track of their academic status. If you forgot or lost your log in information, contact your child's school counselor. 3. Get organized! Does your child's backpack look like a mess?! Contact your child's school counselor!! Ms. Kingsley is happy to help and loves to work with students who need help getting organized. Contact her if your child needs help!! 4. Make a plan! If tackling long term projects is not your child's forte, help him/her make short term goals for completing parts of the assignment. Breaking the assignment into chunks makes it feel more manageable. 5. Get ahead on the weekends! If your child can finish an essay or reading assignment over the weekend, it will help lessen the load during busy week nights! 6. Look online! Need extra help or clarification on a topic. Our children are lucky enough to have the world at their fingertips (the World Wide Web, that is!) Type in a few key words and many websites will come up that will help provide clarification, tutorials, or study questions students can learn from. Don't forget, no school for students on Friday October 24th as it is a teacher work day!
