Is your Buford child interested in participating on the City of Charlottesville Youth Council?
This group of 17 young people advises Council, informs the community about issues that affect youth, and makes recommendations on how they feel Charlottesville can be a better city. Youth who serve on the Council meet monthly, receive leadership training, are given opportunities to travel to national Youth Council conferences, and have the chance to make a real difference in our community. The City is taking applications for the Youth Council from Charlottesville City residents between the ages of 13 and 17. At least two middle school students, two students from each grade at Charlottesville High School, and one student from the Henry Avenue Learning Center will be selected. The Council will include two youth from each school attendance zone (Burnley-Moran, Clark, Greenbrier, Jackson-Via, Johnson, and Venable) and five at-large members. Private school students, home-schooled students and out-of-district CCS students are welcome to apply. CLICK HERE to download an application. The deadline to apply for the Youth Council is September 8, 2014. For more information call 434.970.3346 or e-mail [email protected].
